    Event description

Calling all Bundy Community Service Workers

Start your day by taking a moment for you!

Let us shout you a cooked brekky and hear from our very special guest speaker Darlene Terry who will be discussing caring strategies for someone very special - YOU.

Bring your workmates and connect with other local workers across the community sectors whether disability, youth, mental health, aged care or other community initiatives.

You can start your day with a free breakfast and some banter (also free) and tell us what YOU think frontline service delivery staff really need in Bundaberg.

But most of all join a conversation about the one topic we ALL need to develop better skills at - Self Care!

Frontline Worker Development Network is honoured to have guest speaker Darlene Terry lead the discussion on self-care for frontline workers as part of the Big Bundy Breakfast.

Darlene  has proven over two-decades working in the community sector that she can both do AND teach.

With broad-ranging experience across multiple training and assessing roles, Darlene has a specialty in supporting frontline community service workers to improve their capability, capacity and resilience for this work.

Her passion for the community sector, started with ‘manning the phones’ as a Lifeline volunteer crisis supporter. However, this quickly led to the coordination and management roles of multiple service centres and telephone crisis lines.

Darlene also coordinated the nationally recognised, Domestic and Family Violence training program, DValert which she has delivered over multiple states over the last 15 years.

Her subject knowledge encompasses disaster management, post-suicide and prevention support, grief and loss, and her skills in training have been utilised by State Government agencies in the areas of health and emergency services.

A qualified ASIST Trainer, she is particularly passionate about enabling everyday people to ask the difficult questions that can save a life.

Darlene will be donating her time at our BIG SELF-CARE BREKKYs to prompt a topic essential to all community service workers.

Is your own life jacket on?
