    Event description

Learn about writing for theatre from the ground up.

This workshop sees participants writing as one, as some and as many, as we delight in the joy of fashioning landscapes and inventing populations.

Working from the macro to the micro, you will imagine worlds that hold countries, and countries that hold counties, and counties that hold mountains, and mountains that hold cities, and cities that hold citizens. And from here, you will make the final authorial leap, entering into the mind and heart of a protagonist, and telling us what you find.

You are welcome to bring your laptop, a personal notebook, fave pen, headphones — whatever you need for your own writing process.

FREE to attend for anyone aged 18 years and over.

If you'd like to support ActNow with a donation we've made the option available to you at the check out. All donations $2 and over are fully tax-deductible.

Finegan Kruckemeyer (he/him) has had 104 plays performed on six continents and in eight languages. His work has enjoyed seasons in over 200 international festivals and in 2018, he was the most-produced playwright of original children’s theatre in the US.

He and his work have received 42 awards, including the Mickey Miners Lifetime Achievement Award for international Theatre for Young Audiences, David Williamson Prize for Excellence in Australian Playwrighting, eight Australian Writers Guild Awards and an inaugural Sidney Myer Fellowship. He has spoken at conferences in ten countries, with papers published and works studied at many international universities. Seven plays have been published by Currency Press, including an anthology of his works, ‘For We The Young’. His first novel was published in July.

Finegan is committed to making strong and respectful work for young people, which acknowledges them as astute audience members outside the plays, and worthy subjects within.
