In these two Regen Sydney workshops, you'll meet others in the community as we begin to sketch out a distinctly 'Sydney-flavoured' doughnut. You'll be joined by people working on a diversity of projects and initiatives to contribute to the regenerative economy in our city. Your unique skills, knowledge and experience are essential ingredients in generating this vision for a regenerative, distributive and socially-just economy for greater Sydney.

What we'll do

The aim of the workshops is to sketch a vision for a regenerative Sydney, and in doing so, create a distinctly Sydney-flavoured doughnut 🍩. We'll build on the ideas already generated by the Regen Sydney community and draw from the methods of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab.

We will surface the lived experiences, challenges and opportunities that will weave into a collective vision for regenerative Sydney, articulated and expressed through the very first version of the 'Sydney Doughnut'.

How we'll do it

Drawing from DEAL's 'Unrolling the Doughnut' toolkit, we will draw out the unique aspirations of the people of our city via the four lenses of - local-social, local-ecological, global-ecological, global-social. The workshops will have only 60-80 available spots, and the second workshop will build upon the first, so please ensure you can make both dates.

Format
Online (Zoom), we'll be using collaborative white-boarding tools (Miro), and smaller breakout groups, with time for discussion and share-back.

What happens after the workshops?

The insights will be shared at a series of 4 stakeholder roundtables, where key experts and decision-makers (from across public policy, law, food, water, built environment and others) will explore how we might make the community vision a reality, and what might get in the way.
We'll hold a 'Warm Data Lab' to refine & expand on expand on what we've heard.
We’ll generate a version of the doughnut that is distinctly ‘Sydney’, reflecting the aspirations of people who live in our city.
This will enable us to identify what data points might give us a better picture of where we’re at, and where we’re headed.
