NT Aboriginal Law and Justice Groups Forum 2026

The NT Aboriginal Law & Justice Groups Forum 2026 brings together Aboriginal Law and Justice Groups from across the Northern Territory, alongside government, legal and community stakeholders, to strengthen justice outcomes in remote communities. The forum recognises the vital role of Community Courts, where Aboriginal Elders and community leaders provide cultural and community perspectives to guide sentencing and justice decisions.

Through shared learning, reflection and collaboration, the forum supports community-led, culturally safe justice approaches that help reduce offending and recidivism, improve access to rehabilitation, diversion and restorative justice programs, and increase local involvement in justice decision-making. These conversations support stronger Community Courts in places such as Groote Eylandt, Maningrida, Kintore, Ramingining, Wadeye and Beswick/Barunga, contributing to safer communities and improved social wellbeing.
