Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Group for Burnout Prevention & Compassion
Description
An 8 week group program for the prevention of burnout within work, study, or personal circumstances, as well as for the practice of compassion. Explore a range of mindfulness practices and aspects of cognitive therapy in a warm, kind, and curious space. Discover how to befriend our bodies, tend to our thoughts, care for our emotions, and take compassionate actions through guided meditation, structured home practice, and supportive group discussion.
What is MBCT?
Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an evidence-based therapy combining elements of cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices. Initially developed to prevent relapse in individuals who have experienced recurrent episodes of depression, it has been adapted for the application to a variety of clinical presentations. By fostering a non-judgmental awareness of the present moment, MBCT empowers individuals to recognise and disengage from unhelpful patterns of rumination and reactivity, and to develop healthier ways of relating and responding to their thoughts and emotions.

Who are the facilitators?
Selma
Selma is a certified MBCT therapist with a background in psychology, mental health, and nature-based therapies. She is currently doing a PhD on how mindfulness can be used as a tool to deepen our connections with Nature, ourselves, and society. Curious about the wonders of the mind, the body, and the universe, Selma believes mindfulness can help us discover these wonders, with MBCT being an evidence-based method for cultivating awareness and compassion.
Weiyu
Weiyu is a certified MBCT therapist with a background in nursing, counselling, and psychotherapy. With humour, she refers to herself as a delightful fool, dancing between the home of a beginner's mind, the chaotic trance of society, and the wonders of the universe. Delighting in the natural world, the creative arts, and human connections, Weiyu knows that mindfulness is our innate capacity, and MBCT is a practical and effective way to nurture this capacity that is essential to Life.
