Connection and compassion are keys to finding peace and happiness in this difficult world. Becoming a more compassionate person will serve you in your daily life by relieving you of harsh judgments and allowing more kindness to flow through you. If one desires an ability to be compassionate, one must develop the skills to turn inwards. 

The spontaneous heart is one that knows how to love and be loved. Heartbeat map is a guide to how our emotional energy moves and morphs. In this practice we embody the art of being a fluid emotional athlete. This map teaches us how to navigate the emotional terrain of life without getting stuck, holding on, or pushing away.

We will explore how the body has been shaped by our emotions, tracking when the heart is open and when it is closed. As waves of feeling move us, we learn how to express emotion in a healthy and creative way. Through the embodiment of the 5Rhythms practice, you will be shown skills and techniques to take home and apply in your daily life. This workshop is designed for everyone, of every age, and shape. 

In this workshop we will integrate the stillness of Buddhist mindfulness meditation with the moving meditations of the 5Rhythms®. The Buddha encouraged us to bring wise attention to every aspect of our lives. 

In sitting meditation, we have the opportunity to observe the mind and body at rest through silent introspection. In the practice of the 5Rhythms, we engage in mindfulness while in motion. The 5Rhythms is a map that teaches us how energy moves. The two polarities of moving and sitting meditation together mirror the dance of life and open the door to peace, well being and balance. 

All workshop hours contribute to 5Rhythms® teacher training prerequisites.

Lucia Horan was born into the family of the 5Rhythms®. She has been dancing with Gabrielle Roth from the time of her birth. 

Lucia was raised in the community of Esalen® Institute, in Big Sur, CA. She was certified to teach the 5Rhythms in 1998. Lucia has taught at Esalen Institute (CA), Omega Institute (NY & Costa Rica), Kripalu, Centro de Ompia (Italy), The Studio Maui (Hawaii), TNK Psychology Institute (Osaka and Tokyo Japan), The Moving Center School (San Francisco and NYC). 

She is recognized as an international teacher of the 5Rhythms® practice. Lucia brings to her teaching practice a lifetime of experience with the 5Rhythms® as a way to move through the fabric of life’s experiences. She comes to the dance floor to share her love for the dance and faith in the practice.

Cancellations:

A refund less a $50 processing fee, will be issued if notice is received by March 27, 2026.

A refund less a $150 processing fee, will be issued if notice is received by Apr 10, 2026.

No refund will be issued for cancellations after Apr 10, 2026.

If we need to cancel/postpone our workshop, then we will refund participants 100% of their workshop fees. Please note that we are not able to cover any costs incurred by participants for transportation or accommodations, so please organize your travel and travel insurance with this in mind.

Health Agreement: We expect any dancers experiencing cold/flu symptoms to stay home to care for themselves, and the rest of the group. We will review our covid risk mitigation policies one month prior to our workshop.
