Join us for a creative compost education workshop led by Najwa Womack of Sistained8!

Inspiring urban city dwellers to thrive through regenerative habits is SiStained8’s goal. Traditional composting education is a key solution for fixing many environmental issues on our planet. This critical key solution will be shared with community members as a solution-based approach to reversing a growing climate crisis.

Attendees will be able to identify the components of compost and it's benefits for growing and climate justice. The workshop will be concluded with an interactive earth day affirmation exercise.

Targeted Outcomes:

1. Both the beginner and experienced grower community at CGCF will be able to recognize food waste as a source of human-made pollution

2. Both the beginner and experienced grower community at CGCF will be able to differentiate between the mediums of Dirt, Soil and Compost as a way to understand the power of a compost soil amendment

3. Both the beginner and experienced grower community at CGCF will understand the ways in which compost serves as a solution to various issues related to adverse climate change effects on our planet

About the instructor:

SiStained8 founder, Najwa Womack, is a native Washingtonian that hones in on her experiences in the performing arts and international travel to inspire and educate community about the wonders of earth-saving behaviors. Najwa earned her Master Urban Compost Certificate from DC’s Department of Parks & Recreation in 2018.

She later completed a 6-week intensive compost training course with LoopClosing. She is also featured on the George Washington University’s Planet Forward website(one of GWUs many sustainability initiatives). Najwa is currently serving as an Advocate of Compost with the United States CompostingCouncil. She plans to further her composting knowledge to be applied locally, nationally and internationally.
