Event description

Composting is nature’s way of recycling. Millions of compost critters live and feed on compost, breaking down the organic waste to return valuable nutrients back to the soil.

Why should you compost?

  1. Over 50% of waste generated at home is organic matter which can be recycled.
  2. Composting and worm farming is a cheap and easy way to reduce organic waste at home.
  3. Compost returns vital nutrients back to the soil.
  4. Composting is 100% natural and does not require any expensive artificial fertilisers.

Join Damion, Council's Sustainability Projects Officer, to learn how to turn your kitchen and garden scraps into nutrient rich compost to support a productive garden at home. Participants will receive either a free compost bin or worm farm.
