Composting, Soil regeneration and Carbon capture Workshop

SEE Change Roving Regenerators invite all green thumbs to come along to this hands on workshop all about soil regeneration, carbon capture and composting!
Our workshop will be led by Fiona Buining from Ainslie Urban Farm, a seasoned gardener, food grower and composting expert. This workshop will cover various composting methods, including options that exclude rats and can accommodate all food scraps including meat and dairy. There will be a hands-on session on regenerative garden bed preparation. The workshop will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
1. Composting theory 11.00-11.30am
· Benefits of composting
· Various methods of composting including open bays, tumblers, “daleks”, bokashi buckets, worm farms
· Carbon to Nitrogen ratio
· Water
· Temperature
· Turning
2. Hands on – learn how to prepare a garden bed in a way that will regenerate the soil and capture carbon
· Using low till methods you will learn how to prepare a garden bed for planting
· pH testing
· Use of compost as an amendment
· Fertility
· Mulch
· Carbon capture
3. Q and A – the chance to ask all your questions about composting and carbon capture
