About our artists:
Robert Harris is a musical force whose dynamic career as a violist, violinist, conductor, and educator has taken him to over 30 countries. As the founding violist of celebrated ensembles like the New England Ensemble and Brisbane's Festival Quartet, Robert has brought chamber music to life on stages around the globe, including the unique setting of Spiros Rantos' Classics Concerts Cruises.
His musical journey began at the Sydney Conservatorium and continued with advanced studies in Pittsburgh, inspiring a lifelong dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians. Robert’s teaching legacy spans universities, conservatories, and music camps across Australia, the USA, and New Zealand, leaving an indelible mark on aspiring artists.
A former Principal Viola of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Robert’s versatility extends to collaborations with global icons like Stevie Wonder and Barbra Streisand, but just to be clear, they wont be in Harden Murrumburrah for this concert. Now based near Gunning with his wife, double bassist Dorit Herskovits, he continues to champion music-making in regional communities, conducting workshops, and exploring fresh projects that span classical traditions and beyond.
Dr. Tonya Lemoh,
Australian/Sierra-Leonean pianist Tonya Lemoh has performed across five continents as a soloist and chamber musician. She was a member of the piano faculty of Copenhagen University for over ten years.
A passionate advocate of Australian music, her doctoral research resulted in a world premiere recording of the complete piano works of Raymond Hanson, which was Editor’s Choice in Limelight magazine. Tonya received a Creative Fellowship Award from the National Library of Australia in 2022, for research into the music of Henry Handel Richardson.
A prize winner in international piano competitions, she has also released numerous solo CDs for international labels Chandos, Naxos, and Dacapo, and most recently a solo album for ABC Classics, “I dream a world”. Tonya has written articles for Limelight, Australia’s leading classical music magazine, and been a guest on Australian and Danish radio/television, including an appearance on Andrew Ford’s The Music Show. She is currently based in Perth, where she is head of classical piano at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
Dr. Deborah de Graaff is a celebrated clarinetist, recording artist, educator, music psychologist, and arts advocate. An award-winning performer since her ABC Young Performers success in 1982, she earned her PhD from UNSW in 2014, focusing on motivational music psychology and efficient practice techniques. Deborah has graced local and international stages as a soloist and ABC recording artist producing 14 CDs and earning wide acclaim.
For nine years, she managed and performed with Ku-ring-gai Virtuosi, a chamber ensemble that toured nationally for Musica Viva and the Department of Trade, presenting a celebrated series at the Sydney Opera House Studio. Passionate about education, Deborah has taught clarinet and ensemble at Sydney Conservatorium High School, the Conservatorium Open Academy, and the University of Sydney, where she supervised graduate research. Her students frequently achieve scholarships and awards, win competitions and are playing professionally with many leading ensembles and organizations.
Now based in Harden Murrumburrah, Deborah is keen to inspire future generations and also our communities elders, through SILO SOUNDS’ Community Classical Music Mentoring Program.
