Confidence with Drills: How To Hang Sh*t on Walls with Dani Fraley

Looking to gain confidence with your power tool skills? This is the workshop series for you! Dani Fraley of Suncraft Collective will walk the class through each tool, starting with the absolute basics (what is this? why do we use it?) and help each attendee work their way towards using the tools safely and skillfully with independence.

In this workshop attendees will learn about several different tools and techniques for hanging all sorts of things on all kinds of walls, including (but not limited to):

• How houses and walls are framed and how to located a stud

• Different types of wall anchors, and how, why, and when they work best

• How to properly use drills, drivers, and hammer drills when hanging things on walls

• A show and tell of many different types of drill and driver bits and when they are used

The workshop will end with a DIY portion where attendees will have the opportunity to practice locating a stud, using a wall anchor, and drilling into brick and block.

DIYD will provide Lead Poisoning Prevention resources to any workshop attendee living in a pre-1978 home. DIYD also hosts a lead safety class twice a year - we highly recommend that you sign up for the lead safety class before you complete these projects in your home if your home was built before 1978 and you have young children living in your home.

Dani Fraley (she/her) is a professional woodworker that began her career in 2018 after working as a structural and graphic designer. She has worked in both residential and commercial sectors on a variety of projects, and brings a wealth of both general and specialized knowledge to her classes. Dani now has her own small business and a workshop in Camp Washington called Suncraft Collective.

Dani knows how rewarding it is to work with your hands to make something, and believes it should be accessible to everyone. She enjoys helping others grow their confidence and skills, while emphasizing safety and positivity.
