Description

Guide Dogs Victoria is excited to be hosting Confident Kids Camp during the June/July school holidays. This camp is designed for primary-aged students who are blind or have low vision and are looking to build independence and confidence in a fun, supportive environment. The theme of the camp is learning how to stay calm, confident, and safe in emergency situations.

Children may experience situations such as school evacuations, becoming lost, or times when someone needs help. Through fun and interactive activities, this camp helps students learn how to respond safely and calmly, while also building their understanding of emergency services and practising practical safety strategies.

Confident Kids Camp provides opportunities for students to:

  • Help choose and plan fun group activities

  • Build problem-solving skills in new and challenging environments

  • Practise road crossing and safe travel between activities

  • Learn strategies for when things don’t go to plan

  • Develop confidence using public transport

  • Meet emergency service workers and explore their vehicles

  • Take part in a bushwalking safety session
