Congee Club Queer Lunar New Year Celebration

Ring in the Year of the Snake at Congee Club's Queer Lunar New Year Celebration! Come along to hang out with friends old and new, to celebrate the start of the Lunar New Year together.

What to expect: music & performances, stall holders, mahjong, food, drinks and spaces to hang out.

Who is this event for?

• Just like how almost every Asian culture has a ‘rice porridge/gruel’ dish (commonly known as congee in English), the name of this group encompasses all Asian cultures. If your background is from any part of Asia you are welcome here. 
• We are a safe and inclusive space for all LGBTQIA+ people. If you identify as even a little bit Queer or questioning, this space is for you! 

• This is a space dedicated to Queer Asian community. BIPOC, friends and allies are welcome too. Please be mindful and respectful of whose space you’re sharing.

Accessibility

• Unassigned Gallery is partially wheelchair accessible. Entry via front door is a single door (78cm wide) with ramp access.
• Seating is all on one level, on non static chairs which can be shifted around as needed.
• From inside the main gallery there is a 10cm step up to get into the kitchen, and 15cm step down to get into the backyard, however there is backyard access via the side of the gallery to avoid using the steps.
• We have one bathroom which is not wheelchair accessible - the nearest wheelchair accessible public bathroom is located at Juanita Peaches, 12 Edward Street Brunswick, open 11am-9pm.
• Masks and hand sanitiser always available. Masks encouraged but not mandatory at this event.
