Tue, 20 Oct, 6:30pm - 7:30pm AEDT

Description

Brought to you by the CYCA Associates Committee, meet the team behind the floating bins actively cleaning plastic out of Sydney Harbour - and learn how CYCA Members can help.

This free Members only event is for all who value our beautiful Sydney Harbour: part insight, part conversation, part call to action. You’ll hear from Pete Ceglinski, co-founder of Seabin, the Australian company that installs 24/7 floating rubbish bins in marinas and harbours to capture plastic, microplastics, oil and fuel - then turns what they catch into environmental data used by cities, councils and communities to reduce pollution.

Why this matters

Plastic pollution levels in Sydney Harbour haven’t improved over the last five years. Seabin’s data shows that more than 55% of all plastic pollution in the Harbour is microplastics smaller than 5mm – the very particles that can end up in our food chain and our bodies.

About the speaker

Pete Ceglinski is CEO and Co-Founder of Seabin™, an Australian enviro-tech company that combines physical cleanup of waterways with data intelligence on plastic pollution. A two-time TEDx and professional keynote speaker, Pete finds complex, nature-based problems and builds practical solutions that work for people, business and nature at the same time. He has built one of the world’s most recognised environmental brands without a marketing budget and has spoken at United Nations conferences on plastic pollution.
