Description
Connect Outdoors — Frankston is a free, relaxed outdoor community day designed to bring LGBTQIA+ people and allies together in nature — no camping experience required, just come as you are.
This event is proudly supported by the Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) Frankston.
What to expect:
Group games, competitions and icebreakers hosted by the wonderful Cassidy La Crème
A community storytelling session around a mock campfire
Two guided conservation walks through the gardens
A beginner camp skills session facilitated by Each WILD — perfect for first-timers curious about camping
A grazing station with dietary inclusive food
Picnic mats and cushions on the grass for a relaxed, picnic-style atmosphere
Plenty of unstructured time to connect, laugh and enjoy being outdoors together
Target participants:
LGBTQIA+ adults and allies in the Frankston community
People who feel socially isolated or who have never felt the outdoors was for them
First-timers to outdoor community events
This is an adults-only (18+) event. Entry is free. No prior outdoor experience is required.

This is an alcohol-free event
Dogs and other pets are not permitted due to our insurance, though registered assistance animals are welcome

- Who is this event for?
This event is for LGBTQIA+ adults and allies in the Frankston community and surrounding areas. We especially welcome first-timers to outdoor events and anyone who has never felt the outdoors was for them. It's an adults-only (18+) event and no prior outdoor experience is required.
- Do I need any outdoor experience?
Not at all. This event is designed to be welcoming for everyone, whether you're an experienced camper or have never spent time outdoors in a community setting. Just come as you are.
- What food is provided?
We'll have a grazing station with a selection of dietary inclusive options. As a 100% volunteer-run charity, we're not able to guarantee accommodation of specific dietary or allergy requirements. Please contact us in advance at hello@ootandabootoutdoors.org.au if you have dietary needs.
- Is this event accessible for people with mobility needs?
The event takes place at a public botanic garden which includes some uneven ground and grass areas. We encourage you to contact us in advance at hello@ootandabootoutdoors.org.au to discuss whether this event is right for you. If you feel you may need support on the day, we encourage you to bring a carer or support person.
- Can I bring alcohol?
This is an alcohol-free event.
- Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate pets, though registered assistance animals are welcome.
- Will I get the exact location after booking?
The event is held at a public botanic garden in Frankston. The exact address and entry point will be shared with confirmed ticket holders via email after registration.
- What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
Comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for being outdoors
Sun protection — hat, sunscreen
A water bottle
Any personal snacks or items you need
A detailed information email will be sent to all confirmed ticket holders at least 10 days before the event.
- Is the venue open to the public?
Yes — the event takes place in a public botanic garden which remains open to other members of the public during our event. We will have a designated area for our group but the gardens are a shared public space.
