Description
Oot & Aboot's Community Camp is a relaxed, low-pressure overnight camping experience designed to bring LGBTQIA+ people and allies together in nature.
This is our 8th camping event, and we're bringing that summer energy. Think warm evenings, bay breezes, and good company. There's no packed schedule or expectations, just space to soak up the season, connect, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Target Participants
LGBTQIA+ individuals within GWW's service area
Priority groups:
First-time campers
Trans and gender diverse individuals
Culturally and linguistically diverse communities
Across one night, you can look forward to:
A self-paced 2 hour hike along the Wyndham Bay Trail (Saturday morning, optional)
A welcoming and inclusive camp environment
Lawn and board games in the sun
Swimming, if you're keen for a dip to cool off
Catered lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday
Plenty of unstructured community time to talk, laugh, and soak up the summer evening
A detailed itinerary will be sent out via email at least 10 days before the event. This is an adults-only (18+) event. No prior camping experience is required.
Pre-event WhatsApp group
For this event, we're trialling an opt-in WhatsApp group for confirmed ticket holders. It's a relaxed space to say hi, ask questions, or get to know a few faces before the day, especially handy if you're coming solo and want a bit of a heads-up on who else will be there. Joining is completely optional. Your phone number may be visible to other members and the group will be deleted 3 days after the event.
The campsite is located at Werribee. For safety and privacy reasons, the exact location will be provided only to confirmed ticket holders and can be found on the ticket sent via email after payment. Please remember to check your junk or spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox.
Ticket options:
We offer a few different ticket types depending on what you need, whether you already have your own tent and transport sorted, need a tent, need transport, or need both. Please select the option that matches your situation at checkout.
Know before you go:
Catering covers lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. You're welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to supplement, along with sun protection, swimwear, and any personal items you need
If you've selected a ticket with tent, transport or both, these will be organised for you. Please reach out if you have any questions beforehand
Please note there is no campfire at this event

Dogs and other pets are not permitted due to our insurance, though registered assistance animals are welcome

- Who is this event for?
This event is for LGBTQIA+ individuals within Greater Western Water's service area, including Werribee South and surrounding communities. We especially welcome first-time campers, trans and gender diverse individuals, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities though all LGBTQIA+ people and allies in the area are welcome to join.
It's an adults-only (18+) event, and no prior camping experience is required.
- Do I need camping experience?
Not at all. No prior camping experience is required. This event is designed to be welcoming for everyone, whether you're a seasoned camper or trying it for the first time. If you don't have your own gear, we also offer ticket options that include camping gear, so that's not a barrier either.
- What does my ticket include?
Every ticket includes your campsite for the night, catered lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
Depending on which ticket type you select, you can also add:
Camping gear such as a tent, mattress, pillow, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, camping chair, or swag. Subject to availability (General Admission – Camping Gear Request)
Tickets that include camping gear require a security deposit, which is fully refundable provided equipment is returned in good condition.
Not included: personal snacks/drinks (beyond meals), alcohol, and any camping gear not requested at checkout.
- What food is provided?
We'll provide lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. You're welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to supplement these meals.

Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate pets, though registered assistance animals are welcome.
- Will I get the exact location after booking?
Yes. Exact campsite location will be shared with confirmed ticket holders for safety and privacy.
- What should I bring?
What you need to bring depends on your ticket type:
If you selected General Admission (bringing your own gear and transport), please bring your own tent, sleeping bag, air mattress, pillow, and transport to and from the campsite.
If you selected a ticket with camping gear included, those items will be organised for you — you won't need to bring them yourself.
For everyone, we'd also recommend bringing:
Sun protection and swimwear for the day
Any personal snacks or drinks you'd like beyond the provided meals
Any personal items you need for the night
A detailed itinerary with a full packing list will be sent out via email at least 10 days before the event.
