Connect Sydney: Mental Health First Aid Training
Connect Sydney is a City of Sydney program, funded by the Department of Communities and Justice. The program aims to build the capacity of community and not-for-profit organisations through the provision of free skills and governance training.
The two-day Standard Mental Health First Aid course is for adults working with adolescents/adults in the Youth and Community Sector. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
Mental health problems covered:
- Depression
- Anxiety problems
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
Mental health crises covered:
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Non-suicidal self-injury
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe psychotic states
- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- Aggressive behaviours.
The Mental Health First Aid course will be delivered face to face on Tuesday, 16 June and Wednesday 17 June 2021 from 9.30am – 4.30pm at Redfern Community Centre. Due to limited spaces please nominate 1 – 2 staff from your organisation to register for this workshop.
The training will be delivered by ACWA.
