Connect the Dots: Social Media Conspiracies

You didn't choose that opinion. Or did you?

Why is everyone suddenly obsessed with matcha? Why does TikTok seem to know exactly what you're insecure about? Why does your whole group chat suddenly have the same take on Spider-Man?

Coincidence. Or did the algorithm get there first?

This is a workshop about something people deal with online every day: how do we know what we think we know?

You'll build a conspiracy and try to convince the room it's true. You'll investigate everyone else's claims and work out where the story falls apart. You'll see how quickly a group can arrive at the same opinion without anyone really questioning it. And you'll trace a real internet trend back to where it actually started.

It's funny. It's a little ridiculous. But underneath it is a serious question:

How much of what we think is actually ours?

Connect the Dots is a digital wellbeing workshop about staying curious, thinking critically and holding onto your own ideas in a world that is very good at telling you what to think.

An evening of games, investigation and very questionable theories - but underneath it all, we're getting serious about social media literacy, critical thinking, research and original thought.

Come with your friends. Come with your teen. Come as a parent who wants to have a more useful conversation about social media than “get off your phone.” This is open to all!
