🌿 Connected Gippsland: Walk + Imagine + Create 💫

🌿 Walk the coastline. Explore hidden environmental impacts. Create bold ideas for a more connected, regenerative future for East Gippslanders. This is a local creative initiative that prototypes a much bigger regenerative future for Gippsland ✨

👀 This is not just a walk or a 🏖️ beach clean up, nor a boring workshop 😴. You are the co-designer of a future that will see young people in this region thrive. By connecting wellbeing, ecology and creativity on Gippsland's tracks and trails you will create something truly special. Together we are turning a local trail into a living demonstration site, testing how the 'Connected Gippsland' feels like in real life.

👀 Monday 6th July 10am to 3pm: Join us for a special screening of 'Imagine' followed by puppet magic and an IMAGI-NATION session with Jack Manning Bancroft (former Australian of the year). Together with his team, Jack is on a mission to bring more imagination and play into our every day life to create systemic solutions that are better for people and planet! Fun, thought-provoking and full of heart, this is an event for young people, families and community members of all ages who are ready to imagine what’s possible. We'd absolutely LOVE to have you join us for this special day celebrating NAIDOC Week with us and our partners, creating a healthier & happier future for East Gippslanders.

🌿 Tuesday 7th July 10am to 4pm: Start the day with a walk alongside fellow future co-designers, artists, indigenous folk, entrepreneurs and the Float community. Get a feeling for the trails in Lakes Entrance and what there is to discover. Learn about regenerative practices and hear from entrepreneur extraordinaire Sam how he's built an epic raft out of rubbish to sail all the way across Bass Strait from Tassy to Mainland Australia. Take notes. And pictures. Meet Nele and Sasha, two local artists who create musical instruments from rubbish. Chat to Amy from FLOAT CAAMP and Ella from Future Council about all things youth leadership. And hang with Amy Tinderbox for some nature art. Share your ideas and stories with others and dream up how this can become a place where young people feel safe, seen and heard. After a wholesome lunch we will head back to Slipway Sheds and start writing down our plans for the next day. Maybe we'll even start drafting... We'll see!

📝 Wednesday 8th July 10am to 4pm: Let's meet at Iceworks to experiment, create, test, fail, iterate and come up with ideas and prototypes that will become the beginning of an exciting story which started with a bunch of local youngsters, creatives and entrepreneurs who just met. A group that wants to write a different story of this place they call home. Some true legends!

🛠️ Thursday 9th 10am to 4pm: This will be our final day to work on our creations, hang out with the wonderful peeps you've become to know and let your inner creative and designer do what it does best. Imagine + Create + Inspire

Will I be fed at this event?

Absolutely! We've got some delicious morning and afternoon tea, as well as lunch sorted. You can't do this important work on an empty tummy!

What will I need to bring?

Please bring some warm clothes including a scarf, beanie and some gloves to stay warm when we're out on our walk. It might be a good idea to bring a small bag or a backpack with a drinking bottle, a keep cup for a take-away hot drink and anything you think you'll need for the day.

We will provide you with a creative pack which includes a notepad, pens and colours so you can write, craft and create. And we will have all the art material ready for you at Iceworks, so you can concentrate on creating art, musical instruments and prototypes.
