We often talk about nature through the lens of scarcity — what is disappearing, what is damaged, what we are losing, and what needs to be fixed.

But what happens when we pause and notice something else?

How much is already here?

Nature is constantly giving — shade, shelter, food, beauty, movement, sound, soil, habitat, connection and countless forms of life that we often overlook.

For this Connected in Nature gathering, we'll begin by shifting our attention from what is missing to what is already abundant around us.

🌱 The Abundance We Overlook

We'll spend some time slowing down and observing our surroundings with fresh eyes.

Through a gentle Abundance Map activity, you'll notice and capture the things that are already present — from tiny signs of life and changing textures to sounds, shade, movement, relationships and cycles of growth and decay.

We'll then reflect on everything this place gives us — what we notice, what we receive, and what we may have taken for granted.

And then we'll sit with a simple question:

What might it mean to give something back?

Together, we'll explore reciprocity, gratitude and care, and what it means to see ourselves not as separate from nature, but as part of an ongoing relationship with it.

💚 What to expect

A gentle nature observation activity
An opportunity to create your own Abundance Map
Reflection on the many ways nature gives to us
Meaningful conversation with others
A chance to explore what reciprocity with nature could look like
Space to consider one small way you might give back

No environmental knowledge or experience is needed. Just bring yourself, your curiosity, and a willingness to slow down and notice.

🌿 Connected in Nature

Connected in Nature is a space to pause, connect with ourselves and others, and explore our relationship with the natural world.

This time, we're moving beyond the question of “What does nature need fixing?”

We're asking something different:

“What is nature already giving us — and what might we give in return?”

Come notice the abundance that's already around you.

And perhaps leave seeing your everyday surroundings a little differently.

What to Bring:

Bring a picnic blanket and anything that helps you feel at ease.

Entry:

$10 or 10 acceptable waste items, and help EnvironmentallyAbled redirect 1000 kg of "waste" from landfill and give them a second life.
List of acceptable “waste” items.

I can't wait to share this space with you, hear what you notice, and explore what nature might be asking of us. See you there!

Environmentally Yours,
Kumkum :)
