Connecting Capital with Climate Solutions
Event description
Connecting Capital with Climate Solutions
Join the Impact Investing Network and partners on 18 September at KPMG offices in Auckland for this forum on investing in (technology and nature-based) climate solutions.
We'll bring together pioneers and stakeholders across the ecosystem to learn, share practical insights and experiences and show-case real examples, concluding with networking drinks.
We’re pleased to partner with Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) and host this event on the afternoon before the RIAA Conference Aotearoa NZ 2024. It builds on the “Investing in Climate Solutions” summit hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Finance and partners in April 2023.
Why attend this event?
Philanthropic and for-profit investors considering allocating capital to climate solutions in private markets, and those seeking to learn more about this and the range of options available. This includes Community Trusts and foundations, Managed Investment Scheme providers, iwi and Māori organisations and their advisers.
Why are we holding this event?
As they grapple with climate-related disclosures, climate transition planning and net-zero commitments (and prepare for nature-related equivalents), New Zealand investors are seeking to decarbonise their portfolios and to allocate capital to climate solutions – essentially things that help reduce, avoid or remove GHG emissions.
The global investment need and opportunity is massive and diverse. At the same time, there is the opportunity for local impact through investing in New Zealand's climate transition. Historically, New Zealand institutional investors have allocated comparatively little capital to private markets, let alone climate solutions in private markets – where capital is most needed. This is starting to change as they recognise the potential risk, return and impact
case.
