How can schools and education providers effectively work together when managing an increase in at-risk international students?

Join ISANA NZ for the International Education Research Forum at Auckland Grammar School for a day of practical insights and discussion exploring how partnerships, consortium travel, mental health support and connections with health services can strengthen support for international students.

This forum brings together education professionals and sector partners to share approaches, experiences and research around international student wellbeing and crisis management. 

What we'll explore:

Partnerships, Consortium Travel, Student Wellbeing and Crisis Management - Lynda Lidgard, Rangitoto College & Josh Brodie, Massey High School

Lynda and Josh will explore how school partnerships and consortium travel can contribute to international student wellbeing and provide stronger foundations for managing challenges and crises. The session will consider the value of collaboration, shared approaches and relationships across schools when supporting students.

Tailored Mental Health Support and Optimal Referral Practice for International students - Jason Chang, University of Canterbury 

This session will discuss factors to consider when delivering wellbeing and mental health support for international students. He will outline the cross-border stresses learners encounter and discuss ways to tailor pastoral support to address their unique wellbeing and safety needs.  

‘What we’re seeing and what we’d like to see’. Education Provider-Health Services Connections - Romy Lee & colleagues from Asian Family Services

How can education providers and health services work more effectively together to support international students? Romy Lee and colleagues from Asian Family Services will explore the connections between education providers and health services, with a focus on integrating and coordinating different facets of culturally responsive support.
