'Connecting to Celtic Christianity'

This three-hour introductory workshop is a doorway, inviting and enabling participants to engage with the dark mysteries, healing possibilities and fecund wisdoms available within the Celtic Christian tradition.
No prior knowledge is required. This workshop is open people from all backgrounds, faiths and persuasions. The only requirement is curiosity!
Some of the key areas that will be covered include:
- Explaining the emergence and key developments of the Celtic peoples. Â
- Outlining the coming of Christianity to the Gaelic world and the syncretism that took place.
- Introducing the hagiography of the Gaelic Church: St Patrick, St Brigid and St Colmcille.
- Exploring the animist and autonomous roots of the Gaelic Church: Pelagius over Augustine, the order of Culdees, Christ as deer symbolism.
- Unveiling apocrypha of the Gaelic Church: In Tenga Bithnúa / The Ever New Tongue, written around 900 AD.
- Sharing how the papal bull from Rome in 1169 facilitated the colonisation of Eire by the Anglo-Normans, under the guise of destroying the autonomous Gaelic Church.
- Discussing the Bunyip in the room, that is, ‘finding your roots’ while living on stolen land!
A reading / viewing / listening list, to facilitate further inquiry, will be handed out during the workshop.
