Connecting to Place With Botanical Solar Dyeing with Norton Fredricks at Waterlines, Hinze Dam
Event description
Connecting to Place with Botanical Solar Dyeing with artist Norton Fredericks
In this 2-hour workshop, participants will take a guided walk to collect foliage and connect to the site. Participants will learn how to create natural fibre twine and botanically bundle dye a silk bandana using earth pigments as a mordant, as well as solar dyeing methods. Participants will leave with new skills, something to wear and a foundational knowledge on how natural botanical dyes work. Norton will also discuss the importance of natural fibres, sustainability and how to incorporate connecting to place in your own practice.
