Get involved in LELAN's December Letters Project and bring messages of hope and solidarity to those who are
spending the holidays in mental health wards.
This December LELAN invites you to join us in writing messages of support that will be delivered to people who are spending the holidays in mental health wards across SA. These anonymous messages provide support and connection for people in a situation that can often feel isolating and lonely.
We aim to let people experiencing a mental health crisis know that someone cares and is thinking about them during this often difficult time.
The original December Letters Project was started by ‘Madwomen in the Attic’, an organisation advocating for social change in the USA. The project uses the analogy of the Owls which deliver ‘The Letters from No One’ in the first chapter of Harry Potter.
How to be involved:
Join us at WOTSO Workspace (223 Flinders St Adelaide) on Tuesday December 5th from 2pm-5pm for card making and/or writing, or, due to popular demand based on when we have run this event in the past, we also have a second date of Thursday December 14th from 9:30am-12:30pm.
We also invite you to post or drop off handwritten cards that you wish to contribute. Donations of cards, envelopes and other materials would be very much appreciated. Email email@example.com for more information and/or let her know you want to be involved.
