Speed-dating is not easy. I know; I tried.

The first time was at an in-person event in Melbourne, 2019. I didn't prepare and I participated on auto-pilot the whole time.

Then, during lock-down in 2020 I discovered an app called FilterOff. The platform sets up 2-3 minute video dates in a 30 minutes session. Again, I performed poorly the first few times I attended their global speed dating events.

From my experiences, I learnt that success (developing rapport and getting matches) requires a certain skill set which is not taught at school. For some of us, these skills are learnt by modelling people around us, through coaching or by trial and error.

WHY

People who participate in social networking, or speed-dating events, need to be able to develop rapport quickly. An inability to develop rapport in a short amount of time (with someone new) can mean the difference between someone you fancy choosing to meet up with you again, or not.

WHAT

HOST / TRAINER / COACH

Your teacher for this masterclass is Mojo Mingle founder Sarah Rus. In 2005 Sarah graduated as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from RMIT (Melbourne, Australia) thereafter using her qualification to work internationally (UK) and interstate (WA / QLD). Throughout her career in health, and her worldly travels, she harnessed the skills of developing rapport with strangers. In 2016 Sarah completed a Graduate Diploma in Education (Middle Years) before founding two businesses shortly after: Mojo Mingle and Offline Valentine. These services help people (especially singles) to make valuable connections, to start new friendships, and to socialise and date with confidence and multiple levels of success.
