Conservation Science Symposium 2025
Event description
Join us for an afternoon of short presentations, Q&A sessions, and discussions exploring the latest science undertaken by the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC) and our research partners across our reserves.
The TLC is committed to advancing global best practice in nature conservation through science, innovation, collaboration and open communication, and we're excited to share our latest research with you.
When: Thursday 21 August, arrive from 12.30 for a 1 pm start
Where: Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), 181 Macquarie Street, Hobart
The afternoon will open with welcome remarks from Dr Cath Dickson, followed by a series of six-minute ‘speed talks’ from researchers across Tasmania. You'll hear from scientists representing the TLC, University of Tasmania, and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania. Each will offer a unique window into their research, with time for audience questions.
Presentations will conclude by 5:00 pm, after which we invite you to continue the conversation over informal networking drinks at Devil's Brewery at The Duke (at your own expense), just across the road.
We'll share a detailed program with all attendees closer to the event.
The day will also be live-streamed: if you'd prefer to attend via Teams, simply select the online attendance option when registering, and we’ll send you the link ahead of time. Microsoft Teams is able to generate live captions for meetings. Learn how to enable this feature when you join here.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
Photographers may be present at our events. If you do not wish to appear in photographs, please let staff know when you arrive.
