Please join as at Temperance Hall for an informal open rehearsal and work-in-progress showing of CONSEQUENCE by Sandra Parker. The showing will be followed by a Q&A with the artist facilitated by Jo Lloyd.
The development of this new work CONSEQUENCE has been focusing on notions of loss, deterioration and disintegration. The showing will centre on choreographic strategies that locate the physical effects of accelerated growth, progress, and social alienation in the contemporary context, without giving in to hopelessness.

Sandra Parker –CHOREOGRAPHER...has presented work in Australia, France, Germany, the US and Asia, and has made a prolific body of work including 21 full length choreographic works, as well as numerous performance-installations and commissions for leading galleries and museums and Australian and international dance companies. Recent projects include ‘SAFEHOLD’, supported by Creative Australia, the City of Melbourne and The Australian Ballet, winning the Victorian Green Room Award 2025 for “Outstanding Choreography”, along with nominations for Outstanding Ensemble and Original Creation; ‘TEMPORARY HOLD’, a durational performance-installation at Temperance Hall, South Melbourne, created during a City of Melbourne Boyd Studio residency, nominated for two Victorian Green Room Awards 2024 (Best Choreography, Best Ensemble); ‘Yield to Resistance’ (4 hr durational performance installation), Dancehouse and Temperance Hall, 2022, winning the 2022 Green Room Award for ‘Best Choreography’; ‘Looming’, (2 channel video) This is a Poem, Buxton Contemporary, Melbourne, 2021; ‘Replacement’, Sarah Scout Presents, 2021, Creative Victoria, Creator’s Fund; ‘Adherence’, Iwaki Auditorium, ABC, Melbourne with funding from Creative Victoria; and ‘Small Details’, presented at Dancehouse as part of Dance Massive, 2017. Sandra Parker was the recipient of the Australia Council for the Arts, Dance Board Fellowship 2012/2013. Residencies include: Bogliasco Foundation Fellowship, Italy (2017/2024), Cité international des Arts, Paris (2019; Bundanon, NSW (2023); City of Melbourne Boyd Studio (2023); The Australian Ballet inaugural residency (2022) and The Substation resident artist (2024/2025). In 2024 Sandra Parker the development of a new work ‘Consequence’ with funding support from Creative Australia and the City of Port Phillip.
