​Speaker biographies

Suzanne Orr MLA, ACT Minister for Environment

​Suzanne Orr is the Labor Member for Yerrabi in the ACT Legislative Assembly. She serves as the Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water. She also holds the portfolios of Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Minister for Disability, Carers and Community Services, and Minister for Seniors and Veterans. Before entering the Assembly in 2016, Ms. Orr worked as an urban planner in the public service and has a background in the hospitality and tourism industries.

Dr ​Simon Copland, Executive Director, Conservation Council ACT Region

​Simon Copland is the Executive Director of the Conservation Council ACT Region, Canberra's peak body for the environment. He has a long history in the Australian climate movement, previously working for 350.org Australia. He was also the Executive Director at Pedal Power ACT, leading campaigns to boost active travel here in the ACT.
