Event description

Consumers in Health Research: the Practicalities

This 4-hour face-to-face workshop brings researchers and consumers together to work on the practical aspects of partnering in health research. It is co-facilitated by a researcher and an experienced health consumer, and has been designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the 'why', 'what' and 'how' of consumer involvement.

What will I learn?

By the end of this workshop, you will have a basic understanding of:

  • the rationale for consumer and community involvement in health research;
  • different ways that health consumers and the community can be involved in health research;
  • recognition of specific opportunities for consumer involvement across different research study types;
  • practical solutions to enabling meaningful and sustained consumer involvement throughout your research; and
  • awareness of the range of resources/tools available to support collaborative activities.

The online course and workshop have been developed in partnership with Health Consumers NSW.

Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for Sydney Health Partners affiliated researchers and NSW consumers who have completed the Consumers in Health Research: the Basics online course
