Contact Improvisation Fundamentals Workshop 'From the Ground into Follow Through’ with Myla Rose and Etai

When: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Sunday- August 24th

Where: Margaret River Karate Club

Who: Suitable for total beginners through to experienced movers. All you need is a curious body and an open mind!

What: A workshop that will establish some of the core principles of Contact Improvisation to give you a solid foundation from which to continue building on. From there we will continue on to explore further curiosities emerging from the form that can add layers of creativity and fun to the 'jam' space.

Pt 1:

The Ground is one of our most primitive instinctual relationships yet we are trained to stay off it.

Exploring fundamental practicalities of negotiating the floor with our body enables a joy of movement and greater surrender.

We’ll break down some features of floor work to take your CI practise to a deeper understanding and enjoyment.

Pt 2:

When the foundations are set in the dance, the body is open, awake and responsive, then comes the opportunity to play. To explore the multidimensional opportunities that are being invited by the dance. To generate and feed momentum, to go with and allow the impetus of movement to travel through your body and space.

Let’s work from the foundation of the ground up, into the creativity of the dance.
