Contract Warriors for Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property
Event description
We welcome you to a Yarn Up on contract care and Indigenous research management introduced by Federation Universty's Inaugural Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous), Katrina Beer. This Yarn Up will firstly hear from Mariann Fee reflecting on Professor Emma Lee OAM keynote from last years’ ARMS annual conference, where messages of simple steps to become contract warriors were shared. In reflecting on research management as integral to supporting Indigenous research methodologies and scholars, we take a long view of achieving good cultural and social impact. We will then introduce Professor Lee, Professorial Research Fellow, National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice, Federation University for her to briefly share again those messages of how to become a contract warrior to increase Indigenous inclusion within broader research management.
The final part of the session will be an open Q&A to ask Professor Lee anything – from how to get over the fear, fumble and fatigue of developing relationships with Indigenous communities to understanding the tenets of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property. This Q&A will be in a format of conversation between Mariann Fee, Group Manager Monash University Faculty of Arts and Professor Emma Lee OAM from Federation University, as Emma delves into answers. We welcome you to honest, genuine and vulnerable dialogue within the Yarn Up and a safe space to grow confidence in doing the right thing.
