Event description

In conversationTony Clark Buehnenbild, Neil Hobbs and Virginia Rigney

Join artist Tony Clark, Canberra Art Biennial Creative Director Neil Hobbs and Senior Curator Virginia Rigney as they discuss the recent commission on display now at the Canberra Museum and Gallery.

Canberra is a city that has been imagined into being, through the renderings and propositions of architects and planners. Tony Clark’s newly commissioned site-specific work enters that dialogue through the device of an expansive painting that takes the form of a scenic backdrop. Located within Civic Square, adjacent to the tall cypress pines of City Hill and the open space of both gathering and emptiness, the painting hovers in space, replete with references to the Canberra of the artists’ own history.

Presented in partnership with Canberra Art Biennial. CMAG on the Square is supported by John Hindmarsh AM.

Bookings essential.
