Event description

Learn how to conduct great interviews and have more meaningful conversations with your hosts Lauren Taylor and Simon Winkler from Good Question.

With years of radio experience in organisations like 3RRR (Breaking & Entering), ABC and SBS, Lauren and Simon will be teaching you how to listen actively, build rapport, and ask insightful questions. This workshop is perfect for broadcasters, podcasters, and media makers who want to communicate better.

The morning will feature special guest, TV presenter, broadcaster and writer Namila Benson. Namila is one of Australia's most accomplished arts broadcasters, with an impressive career spanning Art Works, Art Nation, Sunday Arts, and Radio National's The Art Show. Currently in production for The Art Of...'s second series, she brings unique expertise in conversations about culture and creativity.

What will we cover?

In this class you will:

  • Learn research strategies, question formulation, and how to tailor interviews to your audience.

  • Develop techniques for building rapport, active listening, and handling unexpected answers.

  • Understand how to structure questions to shape compelling stories.

  • Experience a mix of theory, practice activities, and discussion.

  • Come away with new techniques you can apply right away.
