Artist Talk: In Conversation with Garan Hale
Description
Join us at the Roxy Gallery for a relaxed conversation with exhibiting artist and woodworker Garan Hale, hosted by fellow woodworker and Kyogle Woodworking Club president Brendan Laverty.
As part of Garan’s current exhibition 'Works in Wood', the pair will chat about all things timber, from finding and working with salvaged Australian timbers to design, craftsmanship and the ideas that shape a piece of work.
Garan will also share his passion for the cycle of wood – from planting and reforestation, to salvaging and working with timber, and ultimately returning to the forest to begin that cycle again.
With plenty of shared experience and a genuine love of working with wood, we’re expecting a conversation that goes well beyond the finished object and into the process, materials, challenges and joys of making.
