Join us to learn how to create a meaningful IEP for your child and understand the important role you play in the process. This session will provide a detailed overview of what should be included in an IEP, how to ensure it is tailored to your child’s needs, and how to advocate for its effectiveness. A (therapist/educator) and a parent will share their insights and tips to guide you through the process.

About the Speakers:

Professional

Kiandra Sciascia has extensive experience developing and implementing IEPs as a primary school teacher and Wellbeing LAST (Learning and Support Teacher) with the NSW Department of Education. Where she worked closely with parents and carers to set personalised learning goals, design curriculum adjustments, and monitor progress. Now, as an Early Intervention Teacher with Early Connections, Kiandra supports preschools to develop IEPs that enhance learning outcomes for young children.

Lorraine is a parent to two boys, Nicholas (10) and Max (9), who are both Autistic. She is passionate about recognising her sons’ strengths and ensuring they have the right support to thrive. While navigating the education system for both children has been challenging, it has also given her a clear sense of purpose in identifying key goals in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). She believes that collaboration is essential in helping her boys reach their goals, ensuring that everyone—therapists, educators, and family—works together to support their development.
