Event description

Musical Theatre enthusiasts, have we got a treat for you. Join us at ATYP for our musical theatre extravaganza!

With our brand new musical theatre production of Converted! in Sydney Festival, we are going to look at what it takes to bring iconic musical performances to life. Work on your all time favourite musical theatre moments with a professional artist, and explore the craft of storytelling, ensemble building, movement and vocal techniques. And you’ll get to see a performance of Converted! at The Rebel Theatre.

At the end of the week, you will share your own performance with family and friends.

Converted!:

Maya needs the ‘Fix Yourself!’ camp for low-self-esteem teens so that she can be liked. Or so she thinks, until she meets Bone, a rebellious return camper who lives by the motto ‘why fit in when you can tear the mould apart?’ Converted! is a wildly funny show which celebrates queer teenagers who learn to trust who they are while dancing to the irresistible call of the disco ball.

Disclaimer:

Please note Converted! uses laughter to diffuse the very real and harmful prejudices that impact queer and gender-diverse people around the world. The performance also contains mild coarse language, flashing lights, loud music and theatrical haze. Recommended age is 14+

ATYP school holiday workshops encourage and engage young people from Kindergarten to Year 12. Participants will make new friends, learn about performing, gain confidence and most importantly have a ton of fun in a safe and inspiring environment.
