Cooloola BioBlitz 2025
Event description
A BioBlitz...is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area. Groups of scientists, naturalists and volunteers conduct an intensive field study over a continuous time period.
Cooloola BioBlitz 2025 will be based in the beautiful coastal village of Rainbow Beach in Queensland. Field trips venture into the Great Sandy National Park, Cooloola Recreation Area and Inskip Point Recreation Area.
The Cooloola Coast is a region with stunning natural beauty and high environmental values. It is recognised as a natural environment of international significance:

BioBlitz Activities include:
Workshops on Friday afternoon (iNaturalist and Nature Journaling)
Guided nature walks with experts by day
Presentations by experts in the evenings
Dinner with a Scientist each night (Additional fee)
Nocturnal field trips (optional)
Two day Nature Journaling Workshop (additional cost)
48 hours of nature!
On the evening of 23 August, we will also be hosting the STEAMzone Twilight Science Market to celebrate National Science Week 2025. This FREE event from 4 to 7pm will happen alongside the Cooloola BioBlitz in the parkland adjacent to the Rainbow beach Community Hall.
