Cooloola Great Walk Ecotourism Project - Stakeholder and Community Forum
Event description
The Queensland Department of Environment and Science is hosting a community and stakeholder forum event in Rainbow Beach to discuss the next stages of the Cooloola Great Walk ecotourism project.
Registrations are limited.
About the project
The Cooloola Great Walk ecotourism project is an initiative of the Queensland Government’s Ecotourism Trails program, which aims to deliver culturally and ecologically sustainable ecotourism opportunities across Queensland, including within national parks, providing substantive social and economic benefits to Traditional Owners and other regional communities.
This project includes plans for new eco-camps containing low-impact, best practice
eco-accommodation and low-impact common spaces along the Cooloola Great Walk, within the Cooloola section of Great Sandy National Park. The project is being delivered in partnership with the Traditional Owners of the area, the Kabi Kabi People.
During the forum we will share information about what we have heard during recent consultations in the region and more information about the project and the environmental approval processes.
You will have the opportunity to provide some feedback about the project during the forum and we will provide further information about how you can stay up to date and provide future submissions on the project.
