Event description

This "Cooperative Living and Affordable Housing" event series is for those interested in any form of cooperative and affordable living such as tiny home village, ecovillage, co-living, co-housing, papakāinga, agrivillage, etc.  It's an opportunity to learn of innovative models and then network with others who have land, projects, or wanting to live in such an arrangement.

Part 1: Workshop on Participatory Permaculture Design for Thriving Neighbourhoods

We see that developer-led models of housing is not for everyone yet resident-led housing can be full of pitfalls and  and many are wishing for more choices--that are more sustainable, connected to neighbours and that give future residents more voice in shaping the place they will live.  What can neighbourhoods look like that are designed using a living systems model--that honours people and planet.  And where future residents are involved in the development process.  This workshop will give you insight and allow you to explore this "new" model of development.

Part 2: Structured Networking

We will offer some activities to get people connected in meaningful ways. We are particularly interested to connect people who have land/property that they might want to make available for some form of land-share for housing with others who are seeking land or others to partner with.

Plant-based nibbles and refreshments will be served. Your ticket price covers food, venue, koha for the presenter and facilitation. We greatly appreciate your participation and support. Register in advance so we have correct numbers for catering.

The event is hosted by the Cooperative Living Steering Group and facilitated by Zola Rose of Common Ground who is a community development and community engagement practitioner living at Riverside Community in the Tasman District.
