Event description

Are you currently operating or interested in starting a social enterprise that provides paid and unpaid work opportunities for young people or those who struggle to access mainstream employment?

This seminar will introduce you to opportunities to partner with our local CIT Industry Engagement contact, Daniel Cook, to provide you with the training and wrap-around employment readiness support you need to hire and provide work experience to new staff, people aged 17 to 24 or on benefits. The ACT Government’s JobTrainer initiative, delivered by CIT, is currently available at no extra costs to you—providing an opportunity for many industries including hospitality, construction, health/beauty service and many more sectors - to support new staff to upskill.

Mill House is offering a Community of Practice networking morning, with morning tea, so you can meet Daniel, hear about the JobTrainer opportunity and meet with other like-minded social entrepreneurs in the For-Purpose sector who are tackling wicked problems that create barriers to employment for vulnerable people.

Audience: This opportunity is for new and established Work Integrated Social Enterprises (WISE) across Canberra and the ACT. It will also be useful for businesses or organisations that want to train existing staff or provide work experience to new staff aged 17 to 24 or on public benefits. We hope that our community partners can also join us and hear about opportunities to create jobs and support new social enterprises to tackle employment training and job creation.
