Event description

Be prepared this June for the coming spring gardening season.
Calling out to community members interested in developing basic tool sharpening and seed saving 101. Learning to sharpen tools such as secateurs, so they don't damage your plants when you use them, is a useful skill to acquire. It is handy as well to know when to collect the seeds from the plants you love, and how to save them for the next planting season, so you will always have new crops of them!

This hands-on 'Basic Tool sharpening and Seed Saving 101 Workshop' will be facilitated by Liz, our Mernda Community Hose Sustainable Gardening guru.

Liz is a qualified horticulturist whose love for growing food at home stems back to her childhood, snacking on radishes and colorful beans while helping her Mum tend to their home veggie garden in Canberra. She is passionate about education and sustainable food systems and splits her time between teaching, private gardening and small-scale garlic farming, while helping to facilitate new and aspiring farmers to do the same.

Come and join us at this handy workshop and be spring-ready for the new planting season!
