#3 - Responding to Family Violence in Migrant and Refugee Communities (SCOA)

Responding to Family Violence in Migrant and Refugee Communities is a practical and engaging professional development session delivered in partnership with the Settlement Council of Australia. This workshop will build the confidence and capability practitioners to recognise the unique experiences of family violence within migrant and refugee communities, understand the impact of migration, culture and systemic barriers, and respond safely and effectively.

Participants will gain practical strategies to identify risk, have supportive conversations, and connect individuals and families with appropriate services, while delivering culturally responsive, trauma-informed support. This session is ideal for settlement workers, case managers, community practitioners and others working with newly arrived communities who want to strengthen their understanding and response to family violence.
