Adopt a Plant Programme -Â purchase a plant as a donation and help us create a legacy for everyone to enjoy
When you visit Hawkesbury EarthCare Centre, it's easy to see why Hawkesbury EarthCare Centre won the Community Gardens Australia Biodiversity Award and why we are passionate about promoting eco-literacy within our communities.
As you wander the site, you will notice the installation of a native pollinator garden amongst existing trees thanks to the Wheen Bee Foundation $500 grant (adjacent to Science Road).
The installation of an indigenous edible food forest thanks to the Sydney Edible Garden Trail $500 grant. This installation has incorporated native, indigenous and endemic plants, specific plants to accommodate migratory and endangered species. Plants provide food for fauna, habitat and act as a wildlife corridor, promoting biodiversity and self-sustaining ecosystems (two sections at the entry point of Science Road - previously tyre mounds).Â
In our community garden section on the eastern boundary, there are many garden plots with a myriad of plants providing food and relaxation among members and visitors.Â
We want to up the ante, by planting many fruit trees, indigenous edible plants and native pollinator plants .. for everyone to enJOY.Â
Imagine, wandering the site, being able to pick a piece of fruit or some other tasty plant, delight in the beauty of the native pollinator garden and indigenous edible food forest. Sound enticing ..
We are inviting everyone in the community to consider contributing to our Adopt-a-Plant programme. Be part of a movement that nurtures our planet, supports biodiversity, and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations.Â
The Adopt-a-Plant Programme at Hawkesbury Earthcare Centre is your opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable and vibrant environment for everyone to enJOY for years to come.
If you are donating a plant, we would like to invite you to come to Hawkesbury EarthCare Centre occasionally to care for your plant and immerse your senses amongst the gardens and fruit trees.
Donated plants can be for the Native Pollinator Garden, the Indigenous Edible Food Forest, a Fruit Tree or other plant of your choice.
