Description

🎵 Join us for an afternoon of beautiful music and community spirit! 🎵

Enjoy Beautiful Chamber Music with a View! Relax with a cuppa and a biscuit (koha appreciated!) while listening to expertly curated chamber music at an intimate venue in one of Wellington’s most stunning locations.

Helene Pohl (violin) and Rolf Gjelsten (cello), as the Chamber Pot Pourri Ensemble, are getting together with friends to play a series of intimate concerts that support some of their favourite causes – Arohanui Strings+ included (www.arohanuistrings.org).

The Amada Quartet - Violinists Lorna Zhang and Esther Oh, violist Juliet Park and cellist Esther Lee - is a collaboration between students and recent graduates of the Auckland University School of Music, and the New Zealand School of Music (Te Kōkī) Victoria University of Wellington.

Lorna and the two Esthers hail from Auckland, and Juliet is from Christchurch. Together they perform through the Auckland Philharmonia Aspiring Musicians Programme, and have received mentorship from icons of the New Zealand chamber music scene, such as Monique Lapins, Ashley Brown, Helene Pohl and Rolf Gjelsten.

Prior to the concert they are spending a week in Wellington receiving intensive coaching from Helene and Rolf.

The Amada Quartet have also performed in a a master class for members of the Takacs Quartet. It's going to be such a great afternoon!

This Comfy Concert programme includes:

Beethoven – Quartet no. 1 in F Major, opus 18#1

Lorna Zhang – new work

Mendelssohn – Quartet in f minor, opus 80

Schubert – Allegro from Quintet in C Major with Rolf Gjelsten

🎻 (programmes and artists may change - but hopefully not!)
