Blokes Walk with Mind Flow Grow - May
Event description
What is it?
The Blokes Walk does exactly what it says on the tin. We are blokes and we walk. In this case, a small group - limited to ten blokes meet at 7am on May 21st to walk the Yul-yan-man track, from the Kabi Kabi language, meaning ‘walk slowly’. We'll take our time and enjoy the spectacular country that has breathtaking views, rock scrambling challenges and diverse plant communities. Caution - this track is 11KM and takes 3 - 3.5 hours. Rock scrambling is required. 750m of steep, concrete track that can be slippery. Wear ankle-supporting shoes with good grip. Reasonable fitness required.
Getting there:
Follow M1 'Bruce Highway' north from Brisbane for 55km. Leave the highway onto Steve Irwin Way, signposted Beerwah and Glass House Mountains Tourist Drive. After 4.5km turn left into Beerburrum Road (signposted Mt Beerburrum Lookout) and turn right after 900m into the trailhead for Beerburrum.
As part of the Glass House Mountains National Park upgrade, the access road and car park to Mount Beerburrum is now closed. Access to the Mount Beerburrum summit walk and Yul-yan-man track is now via the Beerburrum trailhead, located in the township, adjacent to Beerburrum State School.
Warning:
This track is 11KM and takes 3 - 3.5 hours. Rock scrambling is required. 750m of steep, concrete track that can be slippery. Wear ankle-supporting shoes with good grip. Reasonable fitness required.

Why?
Many reasons:
- Physical Fitness - This is the toughest yet still achievable (!) Blokes Walk we have taken on. Your body and your mind will thank you for it!
- Mental Health - Just being out in the fresh air, breathing in the micro-biome, together with a group of likeminded chaps is excellent for our mental health
- Connection - for lots of men, especially after they finish playing sport, or have kids, they lose connection with other men. We lose mateship and comradery. Often we only connect with other men through our work, where social norms and professionalism may impede our free and open conversations* Connection to others is an important determinant in happiness.
Why only 10 men?
We aim to keep the group small so as not to overwhelm the track, and to enable conversations and togetherness. Different men are welcome each time, but will need to book a FREE ticket.
What to bring
A water bottle (or 2), good walking shoes/trainers, and some snacks for sustanance.
Who runs this group?
Steve Williams the Founder of Mind Flow Grow
Are you trying to sell me something?
Nope, this is a free group, started by Steve for the reasons above.
Physical Fitness/Safety/Welfare
You need to be physically fit and take responsibility for your own safety and welfare on the walk. By ordering a ticket you are acknowledging that you are physically able to complete the walk.
Cancellations
We will endeavour to meet on time, every time. If there is bad weather which could make the walk dangerous we reserve the right to cancel even on the morning of the walk. However, we will always attempt to contact everyone the evening before the walk.
Any questions please shoot me an email steve@mindflowgrow.com
Acknowledgement
We pay respects to Glasshouse Mountains traditional owners, the Jinibara and Kabi Kabi people.
* Blokes banter is ace! But please note this is most definitely a non-sexist/racist/homophobic group
