ABOUT US

Boundless Bonds is dedicated to promoting mental, emotional and physical wellbeing by helping individuals connect with themselves, their partners and their community. One of the ways we do this is through a body-centred rope tying practice that has its historical roots in the ancient art of Japanese Shibari. Shibari has transcended its roots to become a diverse and enriching practice of artistic expression that emphasizes the beauty of intricate rope patterns and the human form. Beyond aesthetics, Shibari has also found a place in mindfulness and connection, serving as a form of meditative practice that fosters presence and trust among participants. At Boundless Bonds we've woven aspects of the ancient art of Japanese Shibari into a contemporary body-centred mindfulness approach, where the focus is on cultivating mental and physical wellbeing using the sensations of rope as a point of focus. Becoming proficient in rope handling and tying techniques enables participants to optimise the benefits of this practice and to that end, Boundless Bonds periodically runs workshops and rope social events. This event is open to anyone who would like to explore and engage with this enriching wellbeing practice.

Participants attend at their own risk, but safety, consent, and risk awareness are discussed prior to tying activities.

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new Boundless Bonds Wellness Studio and Rope Space in Kingston! Join us for a special day filled with a workshop, performance, lunch and social tying time, at our inaugural event in our new venue, "Rope Discovery Day - Workshop, Performance & Social."

This special day will also include pizza lunch and an exciting opportunity to learn from our special guest, Hirondelle.

Hirondelle has been exploring her love of rope for more than 10 years, both tying and being tied. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she is travelling to Hobart especially to celebrate the opening of our new studio. Hirondelle adores the intimacy and connection that is possible when sharing rope with a partner and will be teaching alongside Nina at the event, followed by a small performance to demonstrate our teachings.

Whilst the workshop teachings and performance are aimed at partnered tying, many of the techniques are applicable to self-tying and you are more than welcome if that's your jam.

What to wear

Think active/yoga wear. Avoid heavy fabrics such as denim or fabrics that don't stretch when you move. Please leave your shoes at the door when you enter.

What to bring

At least 2 lengths of 8-10m rope of any fibre and safety shears (There will be some rope and shears available on the day for use and for sale).
A notebook and pen to take notes with, if you like.
A thirst for knowledge, appetite for pizza and your best smile!

What is provided

Pizza for lunch, soft drink, juice, coffee and tea (please note vegetarian options will be available but we cannot cater for food allergies or other dietary requirements - you're welcome to BYO if you wish).
Limited amount of rope and safety shears for use and/or sale on the day.
Group workshop tuition and small performance demonstration.
Time for social tying after lunch.

Your contribution

Early Bird $45 per person until 31 January 2025, then $55 per person (+ booking fees - Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity).
