๐ŸŒง๏ธ Burgers & Brotherhood

Series 3: After the Storm โ€” What You're Left With

The emergency doesn't always end when the rain stops.

The immediate danger has passed.

The water has gone down. The power comes back on. The roads reopen.

But for many people, that's when the real work begins.

After the Storm: What You're Left With is the third session in our Burgers & Brotherhood series, looking at what happens in the days, weeks and months after a disaster or major life disruption.

We'll talk about the practical realities of recovery โ€” and the things that aren't always visible from the outside.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ What happens after the emergency?

We'll explore:

  • What recovery can actually look and feel like

  • Dealing with damage, repairs and disruption

  • Navigating financial pressures and unexpected costs

  • Supporting your family while you're trying to recover yourself

  • The emotional impact of disaster and prolonged stress

  • Why recovery isn't always a straight line

  • Knowing when you need help and where to find it

  • Looking after your mates when they're doing it tough

  • How community connection can make recovery easier

๐Ÿ’ฌ The conversation men don't always have

There's often plenty of focus on what to do before and during a disaster.

But what about afterwards?

When the adrenaline wears off, the paperwork starts, the insurance calls begin and everyone expects life to get back to normal โ€” what happens then?

This session creates space for honest conversations about the realities of recovery and the pressure men can put on themselves to simply "get on with it."

๐Ÿ’ก Why attend?

Because recovery isn't just about fixing what's broken.

It's about rebuilding your sense of normal, reconnecting with people and knowing you don't have to do it alone.

Come along to:

  • Learn about practical recovery supports

  • Better understand the recovery journey

  • Identify when you or someone else might need extra support

  • Learn ways to support mates and family

  • Connect with local resources and community

  • Have an honest conversation in a relaxed environment

๐Ÿ” What to expect

This is a relaxed evening of:

๐Ÿ” Food and conversation
๐ŸŽค Local voices and lived experience
๐Ÿ’ฌ Honest discussion

๐Ÿ‘Š Who is it for?

Local men who have experienced or supported someone through a disaster, difficult event or major disruption โ€” or anyone who wants to better understand what recovery can look like.

You don't need to have experienced a disaster yourself.

You don't need to share your story.

Just come along and be part of the conversation.
