Event description
Monday evenings, join us as we belt out favourites from across the generations, have a laugh, build confidence to use our voices, and take the opportunity to sing with our hearts on our sleeves.
Every voice is welcome, from first time singers to professionals.
When: Mondays 6:30 - 8pm. 10th February to *24th March 2025 (no singing 10th March)
*Where: Midnightsky Studio 2. 101 Victoria Street in Fitzroy (very close to the corner of Brunswick street and Johnston Street. Not Victoria Parade). On the last night of the season, Monday 24th March, we will host a 'Little Big Sing Your Heart Out' at a venue in the inner north (venue to be confirmed!). Your season pass gives you access to this event.
How much: $90/$160/$180/$200 (6 week term)
But how do I choose?
- A Touch of Paradise: $200 (+ GST & Booking fee) - This is you saying a big thank you to this project because you find you have the capacity to do so.
- Throw Your Arms Around Me: $180 (+ GST & Booking fee) - If people pick this one then we can breathe a bit easier, if you have the capacity we would really appreciate you paying this price
- It’s All About The Base: $160 (+ GST & Booking fee) - This covers our costs and we would probably be ok to keep running if the majority of people picked this price.
- Love…Thy Will Be Done: $90 (+ GST & Booking fee) - Everybody deserves to sing, so we made a price we think is accessible for most people. We can’t afford for many people to pick this price, but it’s here to make sure no one misses out.
Luke, I hate this! Just tell me how much to pay - $180 (unless you can’t afford it or can afford more).
FAQ
Can I just come when I can make it? Can I try it once before I sign up?
We need the certainty of people booking for the term in order to keep SYHO running. That way we can make sure the artists and support team get paid and the wheels can keep turning. If you want to have a try you can keep an eye out for if we are running “The Big Sing Your Heart Out”, this is a one off event where anyone is welcome to come and join us for a big sing-a-long. A great way to try things out. Also, come along to Campfire, we do a sing-a-long (called Piano Bingo) at the start of the event and it is a good representation of the general vibe.
There are limited places (based on the size of our space), once the Season starts, if we haven’t sold out you are welcome to come along one week and try it out and just pay for that session. then you can join for the rest of the season if you like it. Email us to see if there are any ‘drop in’ spots…you never know!
Accessibility
If you have accessibility requirements we would love to help you out as much as we can. Please note the entrance to the venue includes 5 steps with a handrail. If you let us know your requirements on booking we can be in touch to discuss further.

A bit more about Luke and why he is leading Sing Your Heart Out:
Singing is good for our hearts and doing it in a group, when you feel supported to be yourself and find your voice, is an experience everyone should have.
I started learning to play the piano at about 12 years old, growing up I did every musical/play I could, listened obsessively to music all my childhood and then went to dance/drama school where I became a professional dancer theatre performer (and got a teaching degree).
When I left uni I worked professionally as a dance theater performer and I made a bit of a specialty of working with groups of people to help them discover their love of the performing arts.
Around 10 years ago I started to want to sing a lot more. I just liked how it felt and wanted to be able to do it a bit more confidently.
One day I was walking along the street and saw a sign for “Alexander Technique and voice lessons”. I’d been really interested in this technique and the opportunity seemed too obvious to miss. So I booked my first lesson and was hooked.
For the next 3 or 4 years I did 3 voice lessons a week and loved the Alexander technique so much I trained to become an Alexander technique teacher (which is a 3 year full time course).
Throughout all this I created a couple of solo shows that had singing at their heart and created Campfire - where I have led more Piano Bingo sessions (Piano Bingo is a playful, chaotic, pull songs out of a hat, sing-a-long) than I can count and I taught myself how to play the piano, in order to accompany myself singing.
Now, I’m excited to take my mix of experienced performer, confident group facilitator and curious musician to lead a group of people to sing their hearts out and discover the joy of singing in a group.
