Healthcare professionals’ perspectives on the barriers and enablers of cancer clinical trial participation in the Australian Arabic-speaking community
We are seeking healthcare professionals working with adults (≥ 18 years) with cancer from the Australian Arabic-speaking community. The aim of this study is to try to understand the needs of
people with cancer from Australian Arabic-speaking communities and their interest in participating in cancer clinical trials. This will help us to increase the participation of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community members in cancer clinical trials with a view to improving health outcomes for all Australians.
What: Focus group discussion via Zoom. Participants who are unable to attend the focus group session will be offered the option of participating in an individual shorter interview at a mutually convenient time.Â
Who: Healthcare professionals working with adults with cancer from the Australian Arabic-speaking community. These include clinical specialists, general practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and medical interpreters. We encourage you to share this invitation with suitable colleagues. All participants are required to register individually.
When: You can choose one of the following sessions:
- Thursday 4 May 1.00pm AEST
- Monday 8 May 10.00am AEST
- Tuesday 16 May 1.00pm AEST
- Wednesday 31 May 6.00pm AEST
- Friday 2 June 10.00am AEST
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes per focus group session.
Focus group size: Maximum of up to 6Â participants per focus group session (plus facilitators).
Investigators: This study is led by Dr Rayan Saleh Moussa and a team of investigators from Cancer Symptoms Trials (CST) at The University of Technology Sydney.
Registration: When you register, you will be asked some demographic questions about yourself. These questions will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. This is to inform us of the representation of participants in the study and for the purpose of reporting our research findings which will be in a deidentified format. Please read the Participant Information Sheet below for further information.
Confidentiality: The sessions will be recorded for data collection and analysis. All data collected will be treated confidentially and de-identified for analysis and reporting. The recordings will be permanently deleted once analysis is complete.
